It’s Official: Ribbon Cutting Heralds Grand Opening of New Memory Care and Independent Living Expansion
Allerton House at Central Park held a formal Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to announce the Grand Opening of the new Memory Care Neighborhood and Independent Living expansion at the Welch Senior Living community in Weymouth.
“We have always tried to be on the cutting edge,” said Welch Senior Living Principal Paul T. Casale, referring to the fourth-generation family’s nearly 70-year history in senior care and housing.
Casale Sr. thanked the standing-room-only crowd of well-wishers from state government, the Town of Weymouth, the Alzheimer’s Association, and the senior healthcare community for their support. Casale also thanked the community’s partners, who helped bring the new wing and expansion to fruition, including AEW Capital Management, Cutler Associates, Kentco Corporation, M & T Bank, and the Town of Weymouth.
Bob Luongo, director, Department of Planning & Community Development, for the Town of Weymouth, who was representing Mayor Robert Hedlund, presented a citation of congratulations, saying that the opening of the new memory care wing and the expansion of independent living apartments is “meeting a housing need” identified by the town’s need analysis plan.
Gregory Denton, chief of staff, Massachusetts State Senator Patrick O’Connor, also read a citation of congratulations on the grand opening.
When speaking of the Memory Care Neighborhood, Casale said the new wing offers a beautiful new residence for 16 people and includes private suites and two companion suites, delicious meals, activities, and socialization – all provided by specially-trained staff under the leadership of Melanie Cosato. Cosato, LPN, CDP is among a team of senior staff that also includes Eileen Laramee, RN, senior consultant, Welch Senior Living; Joyce Watson O’Neil, LICSW, MPH, CDP, clinical social worker, Welch Senior Living; and Jeanette Boudreau, who will oversee enrichment activities. Paul Casale Jr. is the executive director of Allerton House at Central Park.
As Casale talked about the 10 new 1- and 2-bedroom, full-size apartments with full kitchens and high-end finishes in the new independent living apartments, he made special mention of the “peace of mind” that the community’s 24-hour security provides these residents and their families.
